What happens next
I read the message and reply personally, normally within one working day. If the project looks like a fit, the next step is a short call to fill in the gaps.
After that you get a written scope with a fixed price where the work is genuinely fixed-scope, or a day rate and an estimate where it is not. I will be explicit about which one applies and why.

Normally within one working day. If your enquiry is urgent, say so in the message and I will prioritise it.
What information should I include?
What the system does, what needs building or fixing, roughly when you need it, and any constraints - existing technology, budget range, or a hard deadline. Even rough answers help enormously.
Do you charge for the first conversation?
No. The initial conversation and the written scope that follows are free.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes, routinely, and I am happy to sign yours before you describe anything sensitive.
